On any vehicle, struts/shocks become tired after 60k miles. When we had our E53, I noticed it around the 70-75k mark.

On smaller cars you can do the old bounce test where you push down each corner of the car and see if it bounces or rebounds firmly, but the X is such a heavy vehicle with stiff springs (especially sport package) that I am not sure how well this works. I have about 85k on the X and it still rides really firm, and I have over 100k on my 325i with Bilsteins and it is still firm as well. If your car's ride still feels firm I would just leave them alone for now if I were you, unless you just want to tighten it up a little bit.
