My 2005 4.4 X5 comments & mods

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share my comments and mod plans with you all and hope for some feedback that have always been helpful

I always thought posts with new pictures are interesting that’s why I’ve added some new pics.
As the pictures show, I’ve tinted all windows (50% front and 35% back). Just wanted a slight tint.

In general, I have to say the X5 is a great car and have not regretted buying it at all (apart from not being able to afford the 4.8 ). No drive is too long and I just love driving it. The engineering is amazing and I love all the details. I've taken the X through the Alps, drove to Italy, done German autobahns (no speed limits) and clocked 240KPH suprising lots of little GTI's, turbo's, GTS' etc on the roads But as we all know, every rose has its thorn and my thorn would be the sound system

After adjusting the DSP system in everyway possible and not being fully satisfied with the quality, I have decided to add an amplifier and subwoofer. I’ve gone through all your comments regarding where to place the amplifier and will send my comments when all is done.
I hope that adding the amplifier will not only improve sound quality but also eliminate the cluncking sound of the fuel cap heard when the bass is pumping while standing outside next to the X.

Got my ipod last week and have ordered the icelink connection, I almost went for the fm connector but read your comments about the poor quality. I should be getting the icelink in a couple of weeks (it takes that long for an express delivery).

I am also going to put 2 JVC monitors in the back headrests and connect a miniPS2 to the system giving me gaming and DVD viewing in one for half the price of a DVD player.

A minor thing that could be better is while driving on wet roads, the amount of water that sprays the back window from the back wheels is a bit too much. During long drives, it becomes annoying.

Oh yeah one more thing, I still haven’t figured out how to put the auxiliary AC on using the little remote control (the aux. heater keeps coming on). Could someone please tell me what to do.

I’d also like to thank the founders and all members for this site

Regards.

ps. I hope this wasn't too long

A black X5 with running boards and comfort seats always looks good....not that I am biased or anything...
