Pulsating...everything electrical
Like the title states....I have an 04 3.0i (85xxx kms), and when driving at night i noticed that the fan speed, exterior and interior (excluding dash) lights pulsate. It was at the dealer for inspection 2 (done at ~79000 kms), and they replaced the battery as the previous one failed the load test. They thought that the final stage resistor would cure the pulsating on the fan but no luck. The charging checks out (dealers opinion), the dealer said the alternator was fine. They also told me that the minor pulsing of the lights is normal on the x5. On a whim I took it to my dads shop, and tested it there to see if the diodes might be failing, and eveything checks out. The only thing that concerns me is that it is only charging ~13.7-13.8 volts, shouldn't it be somewhere around 14.1 or so?
I have had no problems with either the new or old battery going dead, everything works without any problems. (knock on wood) |

13.7V - 13.8V is normal for a Bosch alternator. There is a mod to boost this using a diode noted in a recent article of Roundel.
