Warranty Expiration: what to check?
I have an 04 X5 3.0i with about 42K miles on it and my warranty expires in July. I was wondering what you guys thought I should have the dealer check while I am still under warranty? So far I have on my list: the water pump, CV boots, and power steering hose. Any other ideas for me of common issues to have checked? Thanks! |

I certainly would get under the car with a camera and snap pics of the boots.
I have read/heard of some who go back only a few thousand miles after the last dealer paid maintenance to find that the boots that were OK before are suddenly bad. |

I just bought mine a month ago and my warranty expires in July also. I actually paid an independent BMW shop for an inspection. They call it a pre-purchase inspection, but in my case it was a post purchase inspection. It cost me $180 and they supposedly did a 150 point inspection. They said my right brake cushion was making a clunk sound in hard breaking... whatever that means. I'll take it in soon.

You can have them pressure test the cooling system, inspect valve cover gaskets and check all front end bushings.
