Incoming caller ID displayed (or not)
Does anybody have the factory installed Motorola V50 installed in their X5? This is the Motorola V50 with BMW firmware? If yes? Do you see the incoming caller ID on your nav screen? I just bought a "genuine motorola/BMW V50 phone from e-bay. It does NOT show the incoming caller ID on the X5 Nav screen. It does show the ID on the phone screen (not a lot of use as the phone is closed in the center console). The car knows that the phone is there. It displays the SIM card directory and all the steering wheel buttons work. I can make and receive calls. I just do not know who is calling me. BMW seem not to be able to tell me definitively if caller ID should work. A quick google search seems to suggest that it will/does. So can anybody out there confirm if it works on their phone. Many Thanks Bruce |

I have a Motorola Razor. When I receive calls, my X5 computer displays the names associated with the phone numbers stored in my address book.

It works...
OK
Today the e-bay seller replaced the V50 with another V50 (this is the WAP version). This phone works perfectly in my 2001 4.4i. All features are there including incoming caller ID. So if I am in the Nav/map screen and I get an incomming call the caller name and numbver are displayed on the screen allowing me to decide to accept or reject the call. So not only do you need the correct phone you also need the correct BMW firmware on that phone. The phone displaying "BMW" is not a cert that it will work!!! |
