grrr another problem

My steering wheel is stuck in the position furthest from the driver! I tried moving the knob to no avail (or noise). When I turn the beemer off/on the motor kicks in to move it but it doesn't move! I only got it back yesterday after the altenator went. I am seriously considering selling at this point as I've had nothing but problems with it. I've never had a vehicle so unreliable!

Sorry to hear u feel this way. I take it you have no warranty? I have to say, I'm glad I had a ext. warranty on mine, or else I would have dished out a ton of money. But sometimes it all depends on the car. And maybe also the place where you service it. I know a few places that say they do one thing and they do nothing. Good Luck, I really hope things work out for you with the X. I love mine, and just don't see myself parting anytime soon. There is nothing that compares to it. My opinion of course.

200k!!!! That is freakin awsome!!! And your complaining? Dude, you should be thankful that you have a car that has gone this far. I want mine to go that far as well. Expect things to go wrong with that amount of miles. No car will go problem free without break down or preventative maintainance. Fix her up guy, she will not do you wrong. By the way, have you changed your tranny fluids yet???

Tranny fluids? Not sure...

I just got an oil, lube, filter change..

I bought the SUV at 180,000km (which is about 100k miles)

I had a Chev Monte Carlo with 300km and it didn't have as much problems. I also had a Jeep Gand Cherokee with 200k, had minimal problems (once every 3-5 months). A Mits Eclipse Spyder with 60k miles, had 1 problem and I've owned it for a year. Now I got a BMW with 200k which seems to give me problems every couple weeks!

All I can say, and this is what I did when I first bought my X. I took it to my Indy. Great friend, and mechanic of mine. He checked her out and listed a bunch of stuff for me to do while I had a warranty. I did all the things he requested and to this day, thank God, I haven't really had any real problems. But who knows, maybe my tranny will blow on me today? LOL I hope not. The tranny is the only thing I worry about in this car. Everything else is pretty much bullet proof. You should find an indy, get her completely checked out from top to bottom, and have them diagnose any problems. Then figure out getting them done asap. If you let something little go for a while without fixing it, it will end up being a larger and more expensive problem. Good Luck.

Took it to an indy before I bought and they looked it over and said everything looked good. Of course they never looked in depth at the sensors, and altenator.

I've had 1 real problem that stopped me from driving it (altenator) but the others are just stressful b.s.
