Boston X5 4.4 is on a distinguished road
Hello all - ....and some newbie questions

All,
I recently traded in my 03 330ci for an 04 X5 4.4 with 17000 miles and although its a completely different ride I am very happy with it.
I have a few questions that maybe you can help with:

1. Rust on brake calipers and lug nuts.
I noticed that there is some rust on the calipers and some very minor rust spotting on some of the lug nuts. Also it is on the piece of metal behind the wheel and before teh discs (sorry not very technical). Dealer says that this is not unusual, car has been sitting on the lot for a few months. I have had other BMW's and never noticed this problem - even after driving in new england salted road winters.
Has any one else see this? Should I be worried? Did I buy a car with some hidden problems - e.g. flood damage? Rest of undercarriage looks normal.
I bought the car from a dealer and it is CPO and I have no problem going back to the dealer and having them fix it and/or return the car.
I want to see if this is warranted first.
I appreciate any responses.

2. The cars VIN number is 5UXFB53534LV02402- could someone run a car fax or dealer report for me to see if there is anything 'funny' going on.

3. It came with 19's and I was wondering if there is anyway I can tell if these came with the car or if the previous owner and/or dealer added these on?

Quest 1: Someone along the way was careless with the impact wrench while removing the lugs, but just cosmetic. "Some" caliper rust is ok/norm, espc. since it's been sitting so long. Most of our calipers get pretty dark from the brake dust and are tough to clean. That thing behind the wheel is the hub; it too gets dirty and/or rust in your situ. Hard to diagnose if its ever seen high water. Doubt your Stlr will "warranty" those items as they are "maintanence" items. Welcome to the best X5 board on the planet. GL,md
