generic nav question

Long time lurker, first time poster...

My 05' 3.0 doesn't have NAV but I'm thinking of putting it in. I know this is a shot in the dark but provided I have the NAV head unit pulled from another X5... what else might I need/be required to swap out the existing non DSP stock stereo? I'm thinking wires and the likes.

Thanks-

I have to ask, with such good, cheap aftermarket NAV systems like TomTom and Garman why bother? I have OEM NAV in my X5 now, but to drop another $2K for my next factory NAV just dosen't make sense?

I can appreciate the question, seems like a lot of money (and effort) but I like the OEM look. I can get this head unit for $575 but I need to get the other parts as well. Maybe I can live with out it... any one think think the price is right just for the head unit?

$800 new on europeanautosource.com

If you want factory nav, it's going to be a very difficult install. You can look at my custom x page for the alternative I went for. http://www.xoutpost.com/userpage-user9231.html
