Battery Disconnect Question

Okay so I just got my Dice and was really excited to install it until it said I had to disconnect the battery. First I have never looked for the battery but didn't remember seeing it under the hood. Found a post saying it is under the spare tire and another saying it is to the left of the spare tire (mine is a 2005). From one of the pictures I saw if looks like I will have to remove the spare and spare bracket to get to this. Is there an easy way to disconnect the battery or is what I am seeing the reality of it? I haven't had a chance to go out and dig through the back yet.
