Tires for BMW X5

I've been offered a set of tires for my X5. They're 255/35 18's low profile summer rubber. The book says 255/55. Anyone got any experience/advice on running such low profile rubber on the X5, Mines a 4.4i. I've got winter tires so would like to get something for the summer or all season. Would these do?

It would be awful....you dont ride a 35 series tire on 18 inch wheels..I have 285/40/20.... I don't even go down to a 35 series tires for 20 inch wheels... Don't do it.

The overall diameter would be 4 inches smaller.

29in to 25in
