Can I buy this X5.
Yesterday I saw one at my local VW dealer 2005 X5 4.4 Auto Black\brown 26K miles, loaclly driven by single owner and negotiated for $28K.
![]() Should I keep looking for newer model like 2006 and for less miles with 3.0 or can I buy this one. One of my cousin has 4.4 and he says that it is not worth buying 8 cylyinder at this point of time but go for 3.0 as gas price is so high. I am under impression that there is not much difference between 3.0 and 4.4, probably less than 2 miles. Please suggest if I can buy 4.4 or stick to my original search for 3.0 as this is more reliable also. Thanks in advance |

I think 28K is a good price considering less than 8 months ago I bought my 2004 4.4 for 32K and it had 32,000 miles on it. I'd imagine you'd have some warranty left too right? As far as mileage you may see 1 to 2 mpg different but they'll be close. And you'll love the 4.4 power versus the 3.0. 3.0 is great, smooth engine, but once you drive the V8 you'll want it.

When I test drove 4.4, I felt steering was heavy which I did not feel in 3.0. Is it some thing I should be concerned about or is it how it was designed.
Here are few pics of the X5. |

shipping and sale of the color combo etc maybe.. it was probably a stock, and not made for a customer on order.
I would say the 4.4 and 3.0 have very similar gas mileage. As far as price I don't know if it's "fair" but check the KBB and other sites - I always check ebay for similar vehicles as it helps compare prices around the country - also autotrader.com and cars.com - do a search within your zip (100 miles) and then do a search without mileage limits. Try to get the specific specs close to this vehicle to compare, and then do your "ideal" vehicle search.. elts say thats a 2006 3.0 with less than 20k miles etc. CPO vs non CPO prices etc.. Just my shopping around .02. |

It seems to me that the orig. hunt for a 3.0 6 speed has elapsed...
that 4.4 is nice, but the wheels are std and basic, (and hard to keep clean with those narrow slots,), the chrome trim on the windows means its non-sport, (and the wheels), and the price is just ok, imo... prices will/are dropping like a rock tossed off the bridge, these days. If you are really after a V8, or even the fine 3.0, patience should be employed, as time and lower prices are on your side, imo. GL,mD
