Charging keys...

I have not been driving my x for 2 months. It spends most of its time now sitting in the garage.

I don't want the keys to lose charge so I was thinking of just putting one in the ignition, turning it on - but not starting the car, and leaving it for about an hour.

Any idea if this will charge the key? Or will it just ignore it because the car is not started?

I am wondering about this as well....My guess is that it will still charge it...but very slowly...much slower then if the car was actually turned on....Thats just a guess though.

Driving for an hour - just to charge a couple of keys does not appeal to me. Partly because it is a wast of fuel, but also because it is wasted mileage.

I think the guy is saying that the keys are dead...He wants to know if turning the key to the on position but not actually turning the engine on will charge the key still....My guess is that it will, but slower...

Not that they are dead... But you do get the point.

I want to keep them from dying (and then having to squeeze out another $150 to replace each of them - in case they will no longer take a charge once the battery is exhausted).

So, I am just looking for a way to keep them charged without unecessary driving. It is a shame that the charge on the key cannot be measured (before and after) to see if they take a charge.

Thanks.
