Thumbs up You are so right...

My brother in Melbourne, VIC has been doing these conversions for over 10 years. As stated above, more that half of all cars in Australia run on LPG/Petrol. My brother is a certified conversion tech. Petrol is currently $1,50 a litre and LPG is about half that price. Hopefully this will catch on in the US as well.

Dual fuel X5

My X is being converted to lpg as i write this. Due for collection next week. Here in the UK gas prices are just extortionate and for some it makes sense to have the conversion, ofourse by a certified installer. Will repot back when it returnswith some pics.

regards

interesting. seems like there's a lot of success with this conversion. what worry me is passing NJ inspection or if it is even legal to have in the US. As one stated, hope this will catch on here in the US of A.

It's legal in NJ. The Morris Plains PD police cars have been using Propane powered cars for decades.

i am also very happy with my LPG , will take some pictures from my installation. No power loss, and service can be done in an offical bmw dealer. No problem at all. But indeed warranty is over

Re: Dual fuel

Hi Guys,
finally got my X5 4.4 changed to dual fuel. I'm impressed by the level of workmanship done. There is actually no perceptible change to the car other than the addition of an extra tank and the gauge to alert you of your contents. I have a romano system installed. Spent a misely £15 on almost a 100mile journey averaging bout 85mph.Will keep you all updated and pics to follow.......

regards

LPG is very difficult to find here in so cal. most LPG vehicles belong to fleets which have private fuel outlets.

you would have to get the rig that allows you to fill your tank using your home's natrual gas outlet. that pump cost a few thousand and it takes a while to fill. with the price of natrual gas here I don't know how much you'll be saving. it's nice to have access to carpool lanes though.
