New member - saved all my questions for this thread
.Background: I purchased my 2004 3.0i two weeks ago. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's my first bimmer, but can already tell it won't be my last. It's black on black, and appears to not have many extras, but I am good with what it's got. It looks nice!! Questions: 1. Unfortunately my Aux fan is out, so I am taking it to be replaced this Friday. Even though my FSR seems to be ok, I have had a couple of instances where it fluctuates so I am just going to have them replace it at the same time. So now the question, is this something that will need to be replaced again, since it's and OEM part, wondering if in the next 4 years it might go out again? 2. Has anyone discovered a good product that will repell some of the brake dust? I am wiping down my wheels constantly. Maybe some sort of teflon product? 3. Installed the Neo Pro Link - PODBMWV1S for my Ipod. Works good, but after the car is off for a while I get a "Detached" message and have to reconnect the ipod (not convenient while driving since it's in the trunk). Anyone else use one of these kits? 4. Considering putting in the bluetooth adaptor for my phone from bimmernav.com. Appears that Palm Treo phones will not work - anyone know for sure? 5. Can you suggest a good product for the rubber seals around the windows that cleans/protects and doesn't collect dust. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Have a wonderful day. Welcome to TheBoard: great info here on Xs, cars, life, & stuff!
A stab at a couple of your questions: 1-Yes, get the FSR r&r'd...some replacements last a long time, some don't. My replacement has gone 3 years, knock on wood. 2-Any decent "wax", eg WheelWax, Zaino, any of the 50 buck an oz exotic stuff, lol, et al. You will get a dozen opins...my opin is any slippery "wax" is better than none. That, and regulary light cleaning, wiping dry and re-app. I'm a Zaino fan; the "release" of dirt on wheels and body, is remarkable, imo. 3&4: no clue...I'm a low tech ol'Geezer... 5-A host of products on the mkt. Imo, 303 Protectant is very good, but it is a spray so one has to apply with rag. I have also used DuPont's Krytox, which is outfookinstanding, but very pricey. A decent dielectric silicone grease works, as does any of the "Meguiar's type" rubber cleaner and rejuvenators...you should get a handful of opins on this too. But, if it's not a show car and doesn't live outside 24/7, anything is better than nothing, imo. Some great members here from the Doorway to Hell State...hope that black on black doesn't burn your fanny. GL,mD

It was something like 108 degrees here today, so the fanny's a bit steamy, but I still love it -
