Weird service light problem

So I got a oil lube and filter change done 2-3 months ago and I am still showing 5 green bars. Is this normal or is there something wrong with it?

But shouldn't it lower to 4 bars, then 3, then 2 like it was before...

Indeed it should. Mine is certainly doing that. And yes, mine also changes and loses one green bar approx every 3,000 miles.

I thought the green thing was the oil change indicator....if you loose a green thing every 3000 then it would mean you need an oil change every 15,000.....

That is correct. Oil is changed every 15,000 miles.

actually I think BMW issued a SB where they recommend an oil service when the indicator reaches half. I can't find the article right now... However it does sound like your service indicator is function correctly.

I always do my services at half (which usually ends up around 12,000km). These are the articles I was referring to.
