V1 Hardwire question for 05......

My Valentine 1 arrived yesterday so tomorrow I am going to hardwire it in the X5. I have read quite a few post on which wire to tap into but there seems to be some inconsistancy for the 05 models up.

So can someone confirm what color wire in the Homelink set up I should tap into.

Thanks!

I paid my service tech at the local dealer $40 cash to hardwire it for me - so I don't know the color of the wire. Sorry. Maybe you can call up there in the morning and ask them. I'm sure they know and can tell you off the top of their heads. Good Luck!

Why don't you call your SA and ask them?

I have this done on my 2005 E53 and my 2003 E39 and some cars it is the green while others are brown. In short, as long as you are using the tap, you are fine. Tap into the wire, it if does not work, try the other. I used the homelink in both cars. The E53 had the homelink while the E39 did not but still had the wires. Very simple project and clean results...check them our on my site.

The easiest way to do it is to buy a $5 "Add-a-Line" fuse tap, find a switched power source fuse in the fuse box, and use that.
