2002 X5 3.0D Interior Heater blower runs on
Seven, yes-7, new batteries have been fitted! Only now is the possible source of the problem apparent, and this is because the car is parked in a very quiet garage... The interior heater blower motor runs on, the same as pressing the residual heat button. However, the button has NOT been pressed, and the heater motor runs until the battery is too low to start the engine. This is an intermittent fault, and I've discovered that starting and stopping the engine eventually reaches a point when the heater is shut down. Anyone got any ideas?? Sounds like a Final Stage Resistor problem.

I just did the final stage resistor this past weekend because air wasn't flowing in the front vents. Half a yr ago i had an issue with battery drain, ended up being blower motor. At least thats what mech said.. maybe he charged me for new blower motor and i really just got an FSR? i'd fly down to FL to him.

i have just followed the instructions on the link and removed the gloves box, do you think i could find the resistor.....
after 1/2 hour of hunting for it it came to light.... the instructions are for a left hand drive car, not a right hand drive!!! the job ended up taking twice as long as it should have but it all works fine now. Thanks for all your help. |
