2002 x5 3.0 tranny fluid

hi there,

i'm going to change the tranny fluid. what's the best and appropriate fluid i can use?

Look at the label on the transmission pan. You can only use that fluid.

If you can find a good workshop manual it should have all the spec's on fluids and amount for each one.

That is what i need to buy soon (just got my 01 a wk and 3 days ago) because the owners manual does not have that much info compared to my '93 Range Rover owners manual.

It seems like you have a few threads regarding your fluids. As a rule of thumb, it's always a good practice to use the search function as it may or will lead you to answers especially that you're mainly inquiring about maintenance stuff.

As previously stated, the fluid spec is on the outside of the pan.

There are 2 different types for the 3.0i (Texaco and DexIII). So your chances of getting the correct one without looking at the sticker will be 50/50.

I have 110k on my X5 and I've never touched the transmission fluid.

It's supposed to be permanent.
