Where is the oil filter of 2005 X5 3.0i

Hi, All
this is my first post.
I read and saw some oil change DIY for 2001 X5 3.0 or 2004 X5 4.4. I am going to do DIY on my 2005 X5 3.0i. I did a qiuck look yesterday and couldn't see the oil filter cap under my chassis. It seemed there were 2 small openings under the engine, one with a plastic door and one without. Could anyone tell me the location of oil filter of 2005 X5 3.0i. What is the size of the socket, 36mm?
I didn't find any post related to my question, sorry if this question has been answered already before. Thanks

Welcome!!

Usually the filter is in a canister right behind the radiator fan and next to the power steering reservoir. It has a 36 mm hexagon top to it. Check out the link. It will help!!

Thanks for your reply, Big J. I believe the oil filter canister is under the engine for 2005 X5 3.0i. But I just couldn't see it.

I trust you have found it now, but it is on top, just like the 2001 3.0, as they are the same engine.
