Help with 03 x5 4.4i problems.. Central Locking/Hazard Flashers
I bought a 2003 X5 in Flordia last week. No problems except a weak battery that ended up failing. And a service engine soon light. I pulled the code and it said it was a issue with the EVAP system. Once I got it home I replaced the battery and everything was back to normal. Now I have a new problem. The two buttons in front of the cup holders quit working. One is the central locking button and the other is the emergency hazard flashers. They illuminate at night but the buttons do not do anything. They worked fine prior to the battery swap. I don't see how these could be related nor do I think they are but does anyone have a recomendation? Thanks in advance.. Brandon |

Try a battery disconnect/reconnect with about 10 minutes in between. The X5 is very prone to "logic lock-outs" when the battery system is low/fails. All sorts of weird problems surface and can be cured this (cheap) way!

Thank you. I pulled the switch out and it the bottom on the switch puck had the plastic tabs broken. I fixed this one and put it back in the truck and its running ok. I bought another new one just to have when this one breaks again. The new one does look like the tabs are made a bit thicker. Maybe it will hold up better. |
