CPO 2006 X5 3.0 Question?

I just picked up a CPO X5 with 26K miles on it. I took it to the dealership to fix some missed items. I did hear a howling sound at 65+ MPH. I received a call from the dealership and said they are replacing the differential with a brand new complete unit.

Does it seem odd that a differential would go bad at 26K miles? I am pretty sure its original miles. It is a local lease return.

Hello and Congrats on your purchase.....
I too hear whistling at certain speeds when i am crusing in highways on my 05 X5.
