Is this Good Buy? 03 X5

http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/car/727861896.html

03 X5 4.4, 83000miles. has all the options. one owner car.
comes with private 3 year warranty. clean car fax

only $16900.
the sales guy showed his purchase price which was around $17500
and he told me he was losing money for this one (because of gas price)

the acceleration was faster than my 325ci
not sure about cornering thoughs since it's suv anyway
I loved the sound system! it was radio so CD sound would blow me away I believe

I found this car for my girl (she is paying for it lol) and she saw 06 c class 350 in the lot and fell in love with it. that car was sold so I am looking for c or e class with 4matic.

I am still talking to her this would be a great car though.

how much mpg do you guys get? it showed 17.8 on computer (it went down to 17.3 in matter of 5 min during test drive )

the dealer/seller didn't pay more than $14k. he knows the market is weak and he made sure the owner of that car got the "right" price.
the car is amazing but once it starts breaking expect to spend a lot of money to fix it, unless you are handy and have the right tools. as long as she's paying for everything I'd tell her to stay away. just my opinion

I am going to live with her and will drive the car sometimes so I can fix medium-hard problems (like shocks, transmission oil change etc)

and for 3 years , I don' have to worry about big problems since everything is covered ?

Is this less reliable than 3 series?

what is different from 4.6is? it has sports steering wheels like one I have in 325ci sports package though

looks like you can deal with the basic stuff. I'd offer $15.5-16k. the seller knows how difficult is to get rid of that car these days. the X5 is as reliable as any other bmw.

compare the 04 models. there were significant engine and xdrive changes then

ok I found 05 with 20,000 less mileage for 19k but it doesn't have nav (I can buy one on ebay around $700 and install?)

If I buy it for $17500 with full cash , would that be a good deal?
I guess market is bad for this size engine but average price is a lot higher , I don't know why though

Hell yea that's a good deal IMO. If they're going this cheap you may wish you bought a 4.8
