1st Snow in Oz
A nice surprise after a week up the snow ..... got to actually use the 4wd ..... came out pretty easily and without the need for chains (can't say the same for the Porsche next to me!)

Re Winter Setup It's a bit of an odd situation in Australia ..... you travel at least 3 hours + on dry sealed roads and are only confronted with snow/ice in the last 5 kms/miles up to the mountain resorts ..... most of the car parks sit at this level so unless you have a chalet/apartment and require all mountain access then there is no real need for a winter setup ..... there would be no question if that was the case The roads are cleared 24/7 and the car parks are only slightly cleared ie I only had to drive 50m out of the slushy car park onto a cleared sealed road I opted for the Biathlon chains for the 20's ..... but after seeing a ML500 do a 360 into a wall during the week in the village ..... I will be off to get some for the backs as well ..... can't be too safe ..... when you're on ice your on ice!Schanck Last edited by Schanck; 07-16-2008 at 06:22 AM. |
