Glare on Nav screen

My girlfriend just bought an 06 325 and I am really jealous of the fact that her nav screen is recessed and gets no glare at all.
During the day its almost impossible for me to see my screen properly because of the sunlight. This happens with the sunroof closed and everything.

Has anyone made some sort of shade that you could attach to the provide some shade or reduce glare at all?

Thanks

I know it sounds obvious, but have you turned the brightness full up? Mine was like that until I saw that the brigtness was half way.

Mind you I like in the UK where we dont get much sun these days.

I'll try that, maybe it will work. I guess this might be the only problem with living in San Diego were its 75 degress and sunny every day! (just had to take a jab, I used to live in old blighty myself)

You can always try tinting your side windows!

Have you played with the color much, you can change between blue and tan screens?

Cheers,

most of the glare is actually coming the windshield direction so tinting windows wouldnt help that much. All the colors are pretty bad.

That's not correct. The display is worst when the sun is lower in the sky and shining from the left or right slightly angled toward the front of the vehicle. I don't know if tinting the windows will help but it's a good idea to try.

Yeah, first thing I noticed on X5s with NAV system is the placement of the monitor....only if you could tilt it....

In the E46 3-series and E39 5-series, the monitor is in a perfect position which pointed towards the driver and not tilted towards the ceiling like it is in the X5.

Screen Protectors

Another solution are Screen Protectors, I am actually in the process of finding one for my X5 Navigation.

Its a thin clear film that you put on your screen, doesnt stick, doesnt mess up your screen, and also reduces glare. So far I have found one that reduces up to 80% glare and another for 90% glare.

I am still researching, but when I find out more, I will let you know. Or if anyone has tried this, please let me know. Thanks and good luck! =)

Found something

I did my research and so far I found.....

www.lcdprotector.com

Check this site out, it has screen protectors for everything including our X5 and all other makes and models for almost every car manufacturer.

Haven't tried it yet, but I might consider ordering it soon.

Hope that helps! =)
