Question DRL's / Only Angel Eyes on during daylight.

I want the Angel Eyes to be on during the daylight, I own MY 2004. The X5 doesn’t have the DRL’s program on. If I do have the DRL’s program to be on; will the low beams be on too? I only want the Angel Eyes to be on and I do understand if I put on the parking lights, I would achieve this. However, I will most likely forget to turn them off (parking lights). It is probably illegal in California to drive with parking lights on. The newer Bimmers (E92…etc.) have this feature; that driving during daylight only the Angel Eyes are on.
Can you guy help me? Should I get the DRL’s program on, but will the low beams wash out the Angel Eyes? Is there a way to wire the Angel Eyes to be on during the daytime? The Angel Eyes only have two wires connected to them. There should be some way to hard wire the Angel Eyes to be on when the engine is on? Thanks!

Your Angel Eyes will get washed out by the sun (I can barely see them on a cloudy day). The rings system of the E53 is quite different from those in the newer bimmers, ie. E92, etc. (it's NOT as bright as the newer system). Unless you can get the E53 rings brighter, it would be a moot point to turn them on during daytime.

I agree with the newer Bimmers have a better Angel Eyes. That is why I need to know if DRL's will turn on the low beams and wash out the AE's?
I did purchase the Angel iBrights (plug n play) and they are white, nice and bright during the day. Probably not like the E92's.

Not if you convert to the LED upgrade. What you are doing should be very simple.

Are you talking about LED upgrade to the bulbs or the rings?

Thanks!

I wonder if I get the my DRL's programed by the dealer and bypass the electric juice from the High Beams to the AE's? That would power my AE's during the day and just sacrifice my High Beams altogether.

Unless someone else tells me not to get the DRL's turned on. Hmmm...

The DRLs work at 50% power, you screw with these - you lose your high beams.
