I have had this happen to me 3 times. Twice during the summer in 100+ temps and once when backing up. I never had any codes thrown and the X drove fine. The dealer told me maybe I had a bad tank of gas, and to only use 91 top tier.

I remember reading somewhere, either here or on the e46 site, that sometimes the CPS units will get too hot and cause you to stall out. Won't throw a code, but after a few minutes of cooling they work ok.
Anyone know of something like this? |

My dad's E46 325xi had this problem. I checked his service log and he said it happened once, started right up and then again the next day with all the service lights on.
The dealer said it was a DME Software Error. They reprogrammed it and it has been fine so far. |
