To E53 4.8is/4.6is 'ers: Why NOT move to E70 4.8i?

I assume most you E53 4.8ers at some point thought about trading in your E53 for the E70 4.8i, but ultimately decided not to do so. I'd like to know why not?

I posted a similar question on the E70 board, and the answers were mixed. The loyal E53ers said the 4.8is is more "raw", more of a sports car, and true to the M brand while the E70 4.8i is very civilized and excellent "family car". So, it depends what you want.

The loyal E70ers, on the other hand, said you've got to be crazy not to "trade up" to the E70 4.8i because it's better in every respect.

I'm considering the move so wanted to hear the thought process of my fellow 4.8ers (and 4.6ers). Thanks.

Don't have the money? Don't want to haul around the extra few hundred pounds that the E70 is packing?

Good point AudiBMW..., I should've added in my original question "Putting money aside..." because money is always a good enough reason not to change cars.

Although I have a 4.4, I am waiting to see what the X6 looks and more importantly drives like and also to see what if any performance versions of the E70 X5 are on the horizon.

IMHO the e70 4.8i is not an "is", therefore it is not as sporty as the e53 4.8is. Obviously there is a technological gap between the two but until BMW offers an "is" (or an M) model, I would not like to trade up...It's like going from a e46 M3 to a e90 335i coupe...I'd rather wait for the e90 M3

ill wait for the is model, as the current 4.8i is the same entry level V8 that the 4.4 was. not thatthere is anything wrong with it, just not what i am looking for.

Well I have an '06 4.8 and am going to keep it until the warranty expires, especially b/c I only have 15k miles on it, furthermore, for the kind of money an e70 4.8 fully loaded is, I would buy a ML63 and I'm treated a lot better at my benz dealer than my bimmer one.

but if money and timing weren't the main issues, I can't see myself moving "down" in performance even if the overall fit and finish and technology is much better
