Newbie Q's...Did I make a smart choice??

Hello All,
Great information on this iste. I just bought a 2001 4.4L Cert. with 47K for a little over 26K. I thought it was a great price since it was certified from BMW.Now I keep reading that the 2000-2001 are not built as was as the 2002 on. Can someone give me a heads up as the these problems? I had the BMW dealership pull the vin( thru service) and it seems the truck as been well taken care of. But now I am nervous I bought the wrong year. Any help will be great.

I have a 2001 with 76K+ miles and it has been very reliable. If the history on the vehicle is good and you have the CPO warranty to 100K, you should be fine. Stop worrying and enjoy your new X5

A friend of mine has a 4.4 2001(she bought it new), and she tells me it has been a problem free car and years of enjoyment...she loves her car.

I cannot comment on the electrical and interior parts, however my dealer's shop foreman said that he has seen zero 4.4L engines die ever. And he's seen one 4.4L X5's tranny die only. Never seen the AWD die.

With that said, if stuff dies in your X5, you can be sure it won't be the mechanical parts.
