Coolant tank
Hy all,
I own a 3.0i X5 , a few weeks ago the coolant tank cracked. The question is if this is a common failure. Has anyone else had this problem ? I also want to ask if its normal when the engine is cold and you open the coolant tank it "ssssst" like a bottle of beer. Greetings from Belgium Thanks

Ditto, mine was replaced at around 40K miles before I bought it.
has anyone had to replace the coolant tank more than once???

Yeah, the plastic parts in the cooling system are prone to failure after a few years of use... the plastic gets more brittle with all the constant heating/cooling. The coolant expansion tank is one of the more common fail points in all BMW's unfortunately, but it does its job until then.
