Crank Case Hose Replacement

Dropped my car off at the dealer today for various problems. While fixing one problem, the tech saw that the crank case hoses are collapsing.

Anyway, I did some searching here and looks like there are 2 hoses in the 4.4i. My SA said they are replacing 4 hoses. Does anyone know if the 4.6is is different? Or, could there be 2 other related hoses as well?

I don't want to get overcharged if there are only 2 hoses in there.

Thanks.

Don't know which hoses your dealer is talking about (you could ask him to show you) - I do know there are 2 hoses behind the engine on the V8's (~30mm dia) that need to be replaced if they feel soft, flexible, & thin - remember, it's always less expensive to fix in the shop than out on the road

Stopped by my dealer the other day (BMW of Idaho falls) and the mechanic was working on an X3 from Calif - seems the started out on their vacation with a bunch of error messages already flashing - now here they are pressuring the dealer to fix everything QUICKLY - when I left he was trying to figure out where & how 4 qts of transmission fluid had disappeared - All this aggravation (for both the dealer & the vacationers) could have been avoided if they had only maintained the car, especially before a long trip.

Thanks, yeah I've seen the two big ones. I think there are a couple other related smaller ones I saw on a parts site. I'm assuming they will probably replace those as well. I should be getting the car back by saturday. Will post and update here for reference.
