Unhappy P0365 won't die

Hey folks - I'm getting OBDII code P0365 - i replaced both cam position sensors, intake & exhaust to no avail. i erase the code and it immediate comes back. anyone else have similar issues?

I don't know if you have a 3.0 engine, but if you do it could be a vanos seal issue much like the 530i and 330i from the same era have. Here is a link to some info on that topic just in case.

it is 3.0

just what i wanted to hear. can anyone comment on the vanos seal procedure? looks pretty straight forward. any way to confirm thats the issue? would hate to do it without needing to. the thing otherwise exhibits no symptoms - runs fine, idles smoothly and is quiet. i am getting lousy mileage tho, 13-14 MPG in mixed hiway & city, which sounds low compared to some other numbers i'm reading.

update - spoke to bavauto yesterday to find out what the odds were that the sensor they sent me was bad. 'we've had some problems with those' was the reply. they're going to set out another this week. hopefully thats it.
