2004 X5 Deals - Fishy??

Hi everyone...I am new though I used to lurk around these forums when I had my 2001 X5 (miss it so much)...now I have an Acura TL that I am considering trading in for a 2004 X5 that is for sale at a local used car "superstore". I wanted to get some valued opinions on whether or not these deals looked fishy before I pursue....(I have the VIN but don't want to pay for carfax when I can view free report if/when I go test drive)

2004 X5 3.0 - White/Tan
50k miles
$18,995
Not sure what packages it has but I doubt it has premium since in the description it says vinyl seats.

2004 X5 3.0 - Navy/Gray
58k miles
$18999
This one seems to have the premium package in it.

*Also wondering what extended warranty options might be available to me from BMW/Third-Party since this isn't a BMW dealership and the vehicle isn't CPO.

Any help is much appreciated!

The only way to tell is to have the vehicle inspected by an indy you trust. Carfax doesn't always disclosed everything, like minor accident that the owner never reported. So you may not know if certain panels were resprayed unless you know what to look for.

You should also consider getting the key run through a local BMW dealer to verify that it was properly maintained or if there were any persistent issues.

You cannot extend the warranty from BMW unless you are the original owner...so Third-Party is your only option.

The mechanic and key route crossed my mind but I'm not sure how I can swing that without actually buying the car first...unless there is a BMW dealer near that dealer and I go for a test drive and have him run the key quick.

Is it possible to call a BMW dealer with the VIN and have him run the service history for me?

what's fishy about it? seems like normal pricing for an '04 3.0

you should be able to see who serviced it via the carfax report, give them a call.

any dealer should allow you to get a PPI before buying, walk away if they don't.

kelly blue book says the sugg retail should be $25K...and consumer reports has an estimated price range for a 2004 starting at $27K...while I know that no one is going to just walk in and pay suggested retail and these vehicles aren't CPO, I would think that they should still be priced higher than $19K

I would like to go the Ebay route but I need someone who will take my trade - I own my 2004 Acura TL outright and would like to use that money for the X5.

SUVs are not in demand, especially ones that run on premium fuel - the dealers probably just want to dump them.

yeah, I would believe that the average asking price for an '04 X5 is 25k, they just aren't moving.
