Check Brake Linings caution???

I am new to this site but have been using its information for quite some time. I love it. But i need to participate now.

I Washed my E53 yesterday after the wash when i started it to move it back into the garage.

My Warning on my Computer said to check the linings,. I know why it did it, I just cannot find a way to reset the Computer to get rid if it. I tried the various methods posted on this site. None with any luck. Its an 2005 x5 with every option possible. except running boards and cold weather package. What do i do besides pay the stealership 75 bones to do it for me.

Check the brake linings front and rear, replace the worn linings and the sensor, and the warning will go off.

Here's how it works:

The brake sensor is basically a wire molded into a plastic piece. When the brakes wear to a minimum, they rub through the wire. The DSC control module see's the wire has been broken and triggers the light. Be sure to replace the sensor when you change the brakes. Then to reset the light is this expansively complex procedure of turning your key on and letting it sit with key on, engine off for about 50 seconds. Thats it!

They are new brakes, Less than a month. I did them myself. One of the sensors was worn. I didnt replace it and when it gets wet it sets it off again. more annoying than anything. I know how the brakes work. My 330 and M5 are a bit different than this one. ive tried the key trick, so far no luck. tried the hidden reset. i am about to pull it off and replace the freaking sensor if need be.

Sounds like it is time to do the other half of the job.

If it isn't the sensor itself, it is water getting into the connection (junction box) just a few inches from the caliper.

Just replace the sensor.
