upgrading from halogens to Hids

I just bought 2002 x5 4.4. I was very disappointed to find out the car did not have factory xenons as I thought they std. on the 4.4. You guys have any recommendations for upgrading to hid's without spending $2000 for the factory sytem. Thanks Mike.

Sorry Mike, the factory conversion is the best.

Do a HID search on this site and you will find a couple posts about converting.

Mike get intouch with Gave g at www.customangeleyes.com

www.angelibrite.com

Dave is the president of both of thee companies and has helped out quite a few of us! Stay away from p53's as they do not match up apples to apples. Bottom line here is you will pay more for Daves solution but it is oustanding...Search the forum and you will find many threads on both... After you speak with Dave...have him send you pictures of what the solution will look like...what I have is different from what you will see on the customangeeyes website...you could mention that RR from CT referred you....but that is def not a neccesity....This solution looks waaaay better than the oem hid with halogen brown looking angel eyes... BTW..I am assuming that you will be doing the angeleyes with the hid upgrade.

Dont go there on these.I have them and there are various problems.Crap ballast/igniter (Had to actually buy another pair as seller would not send more and let me send the faulty one back so i could still run the car),voltage spikes triggering alarms. To top it all they are not especially efficient and the insides (Lenses) wobble over sharp bumps.

Admittedly, they do look nice, but thats about it.

Also (it says on the box) they are made in Korea.

A very good option in my opinion is to switch out the whole headlight. It will give your vehicle an updated look and the options you want. I just ordered a headlight system from Umnitza (still waiting for it to come) because my headlights are in somewhat bad condition + I wanted angel eyes, and I could keep my auto leveling xenon system. In your case for example, if you wanted the OEM D2S system, they charge you an addition $199. So new headlights, predator chromium angel eyes, and upgrading from halogens to the xenon D2S system all for $845. Check it out .. http://www.umnitza.com/product_info....oducts_id=1182 .

What Mtx5 is talking about are the umnitza P53's or P53's......again not a bad solution at all......CustomAngeleyes will cost you more by far..that is what Idid - I replaced the entire headlight housings ..I will say this - a bunch of us got too see my solution at the tristate meet this past summer and needless to say all were impresed with the CAE solution.... I kinda covered it in my previous post on this thread! Do your homeowrk before you buy..i took me like 3 to 4 months before I pulled the trigger. I had many conversations and talked with many people ....what i liked about CAE was that it was a completely customized solution and dave is one on one with you.....I did my Fog light HID upgrade with him also...
