Need help on buying a new X5

Guys i am torn between an 04 4.4 and an 06 4.4. The 06 is perfect in every way ( low miles, every option, priced right) however i just pulled the carfax on the car and it said that a police report (CA) had been issued and its reporting that the car was involved in an accident. I would be buying it from a dealer and they are advertising that it was a one owner lease return.

Should i be worried about the fact the car was in an accident?

is this a trick question? Yes - def. run away from this one.

I am sure there are lots of used X's on the market right now so I would shop around for the right one.

Thats my problem, there arent that many x5's that fit what i am looking for. Normally i would not even think twice however this fits what im looking for to a T. 2006 black on gray 4.4 nav,prem,sport,19"s fully loaded with only 20k, 2 more years of factory warranty for 27,500. How can i pass it up. My other option is an 04 black on black 4.4 prem, sport with 30k CPO for 26k. I am really thinking about buying this 06, Is that really that crazy????????? The dealer told me they bought it from BMW and that there was no frame or structure damage just minimal body.

Of course its just "minimal" body damage !!!! Is the car close to you? If so, drive it to an independent mechanic or body shop.

You guys are right!!!! I hate it, but your right. So i found another 06 black on black 35k prem/sport/nav/cold/rear/ and COMFORT seats!!!!! CPO till 2011 for 29.5. Clean car fax and no accident history, one owner lease return from the same dealer. So hows that deal??? Should i jump on this????

Carfax is fine, but just because they have no record doesn't mean the vehicle hasn't been in an accident. Somebody has to call it to their attention.

Of course, being in an accident doesn't mean anything if the repairs are good. You can use it as a negotiating tool. Even huge repairs can be done properly, so don't overlook the chance to get a great deal.
