Probably covered somewhere. Low output on low beams.

Hello.

First post and all.

I have an issue with my 2002 X5 3.0.

The lowbeams don't seem to put out much light. In fact, the foglights are brighter.

My mechanic has already replaced them with what he said were Xenon, but now I think they were actually just halogen.

To no avail. Still have low output. He already checked the grounding straps and said they were good.

If you have any suggestions I sure could use an answer. Along with that answer if it involves checking wire harnesses etc. please point me in the correct direction.

Thanks in advance.

Um, give people a chance to respond.

Xenons on a 2002 were part of the 4.6 and I believe the Prem pkg, they were not standard.

If you have Xenon bulbs, you have HID's. Your mechanic did not replace HID's because you probably don't have them, he replaced them with Xenon gas filled regular old halogen bulbs. Your fogs could very well be brighter if they are a higher watt or more efficient gas bulb.

Alright.

I suppose my next question is. Other than replacing the bulbs with an entire "HID" kit.

What is the OEM standard bulb that belongs or equivalent available at the Auto-store?

55w bulb. Can't remember the designation but it will be in the manual and on the bulb itself.
