long term x5

hi everyone..this is my first bimmer, but what i can tell from this web site is that x5's are very problematic and quirky..i am starting to regret the purchase..it seems that they break down alot and they dont last very long..so far i have had car for 2 months with no problems but i am starting to get scared..i have a cpo 2005 x5 with 4.4 , sport and prem. package..any input or opinions..thanks rob.

The cars may or may not be problematic. They don't SEEM to hold up well for the price and the name. In fact, a dealer told me that that is exactly why BMW covers maintenance for 50K and why most people only lease them...

But on the other hand, you are on a website where most of the people who are here are because they (1) want to share their experiences, (2) want tips on modding, and/or (3) have problems they need to have resolved.

The real question is... What percentage of total X5 owners are represented by the complaints here on this board?

My 7 year old X5 is running as well as it ever did, with "problems"
over that time span, that I can count on one hand.

Save your paranoia for the Mkt...drive it, maintain it, enjoy...
you are covered by CPO, (for most stuff), so fuggedabouit!
Welcome to the Board.

You bought an X5 late in the model run, which is good as some bugs from earlier models years were worked out and you have a warranty, so relax.

If you are paranoid, extend the warranty when it is up or sell it. You bought a a used, luxury ride full of gadgets and gizmos. Things will eventually break. This is the same for pretty much any luxury SUV such as the Cayenne, ML, Range Rover, Q7 and so on. You give up a little reliability on the Bimmer over say a Lexus, but the Bimmers looks and driving experience more than make up for the reliability issues.

Just drive it and enjoy it.

Forums like this are great source of info. but on the down side most people are posting because of problems not because "Hey, I have been driving my X for two years without a problem...jest wanted to let y'all know"

Drive that sumbitch like ya stole it. You are CPO'd and that covers the big stuff so you are not ridin' bareback anyway.

Enjoy.
