Smile X5 Half Shaft, Front Passenger/Driver Axles

So I didn't pay attention to my CV boots, and now the axles are clicking. Yeah great I know, I ordered the two half shafts (left and right) from ebay and found that I have one fairly long axle and one that seems about right.

I looked under the car and noted that the longer axle that i recieved doesn't look like its going to fit, heck the shaft opposite of the wheel will end up coming out the other side.

I just wanted to know am I not looking at this correctly? does the extra long shaft go in somewhere? Will pictures help my horrible explanation above?

Thanks
