CPO Question/Advice?/Thoughts?

Hello all! My fiancee purchased a 2004 X5 4.4i in December of 2007. I just put some new tires on it at an independent shop and while the car was up on the lift, they brought me out there to show me that both CV boots were cracked and leaking grease and that both Thrust Rod Bushings and Ball Joints needed to be replaced.

We've only put approx 10K miles on the car and all of it has been city and highway driving, ie no off roading or abuse!

My question is, does it seem reasonable that a properly inspected CPO car would need this work done keeping in mind the mileage and knowing that less than a year has passed since purchase?

I called the GM and he told me to bring it in this am and they would look at it. I haven't yet heard back from them, but wanted to get everyone's expert thoughts/opinions. Thanks!
