handbrake

hello everyone..just a question..yesterday i pulled the handbrake while car is in slow motion like the owners manual states and the release handbrake display came on in the display then when i released brake it went off...then i totally stopped and reapplied the handbrake and it did not come on only the indicator light came on..if the handbrake is applied what is supposed to illuminate the light or is the message supposed to be displayed..manual kind of states that the message release handbrake just comes on when there is a malfunction..thanks rob

The message release handbrake comes on when parking brake is ON and the car is rolling, or when stopped and there is a malfunction
Behavior - in your case - is normal.
