2004 X5 Bluetooth Phone Kit Problems

I have bought an X5 with factory installed phone kit. For 9 months I had no problems with my Blackberry 8100 Pearl phone connecting. Over last three months I have found that the phone freezes, so that when calls are answered on the phone, they do not work through the car system. and I need to select the Activate Handset option on the phone.

If I take the fuse out, delete the pairing, reinstall the phone and then try again, it may work for a another week or so the start locking up.

I have been told by my BMW dealer, that the Blackberry has upgraded its software automatically and the factory hardware system in car will need to be updated at a large cost.

Seems to me to be strange as my work colleague ha same model car, with same phone software and has had no problems.

Anyone help me???
