To door carrier or not to door carrier that is the ?

So ever since it has gotten cold here in Michigan my passengers side door has been acting up. When my wife got in the car the other day the door wouldn't latch shut. When I drove off the car automatically locked and then she couldn't open the door so of course she had to crawl to the back and exit there. Then I parked it in my heated garage and the next morning VOILA it worked perfectly. Fast forward to 3 days later it happened again and it wouldn't latch and then after warming up it worked again.

I've searched and searched and everyone who has the notorious door carrier problem seems to have the part brake and then not work again. Am I going crazy??? Is there something I need to lube or clean out behind the door panel to keep this from happening or do I need to suck it up and pay $124 to buy a new carrier from the Stealer?

NVM I feel like an idiot I found the post on the wd-40 in the locking mechanism hole. I will try that in the morning on both doors and keep my fingers crossed this winter.

Do you (or anyone else) have the link referencing how to spray WD-40 in the locking mechanism hole?

Use a very small screwdriver, like one for eyeglasses. move the lock cover out of the way. Use the WD40 that comes with the small pipe that connects to the nozzle. Spray 2-3 times and work the door latch in between.

On the door is the latch that locks onto the u-shaped hook on the door jamb. The extreme cold is probably causing the latch to freeze and not rotate back to the lock position when the door is opened. Spray a little WD40 to displace any water that might have mixed in the grease.
