i really really want to add NAV

i have a 2004 to which i've added the following myself:

xm radio
aux input
bmw tow hitch

my car does not have nav, and i hate it. i had no idea how much i would miss it when i bought the car. i performed a self install of an audi nav+ unit on my previous car (A4), so i am not scared to dive into such a thing. what i am scared of is shelling out the big $ for the bmw NAV parts. have costs come down at all for the parts? how much again am i looking at to get just the parts, and what is the best source (is it still crevier?) also, will my cca membership get me any kind of discounts? the figure in my head for all the parts i'll need is somewhere around $4500. is that right?

should be less than that. I am selling the 16:9 screen and MkIV DVD from my totaled X5. Both units are in mint condition. You would need to add the tuner and wiring harness and that should do it.

$4500 for a gps... a bit silly if you ask me, especially since the OEM doesn't even have the latest features that most gps nowdays have, such as traffic info, 3d mapping etc...

I have just done the Virgin Navi Retrofit on my '03(12/02) X5 4.4i over this weekend with 16:9 and MKIV - of course V.26!!! I had V.25 for a day and V.26 rocks!!!

I get 16:9 and MKIV from eBay and the rest from Vaheh@Crevier but 4.4i/4.6i/4.8i with premium package comes with High-OBC(SA555) option and for some reason my X5 already had the GPS Antenna and Antenna extension cable installed already.

I believe the dealer wants about $2,000.00(w/ tax) on a new car as an option. If you already have SA555 and the GPS antenna on your car, and if you are going to do the installation yourself, it should cost you about $2,500.00-$3,000.00 depends on what kind of deal you get for 16:9 and MKIV.

The Sirius-capable trunk radio is about $400-$450, the Navi retrofit cable is about $350-$400, the GPS Antenna/extension Cable is about $100-$130 and the Navtaq DVD is about $200

The High-OBC(SA555) kit is about $550-$750 depends on what kind of Instrument cluster you get.

This should give you an idea of what you are looking at.

I have about 200 pictures taken during the retrofit and I will have them available soon.

If you need more info, let me know.
