Navigation Pre Wire for 2005 E53

I've been looking around and can't seem to find any info on this so thought I would check here. I don't currently have the Navigation feature on my 2005 E53 3.0i X5 that has the business radio so I was wondering if it is prewired and I can just buy them online and install them in the place of the business radio along with a cd changer?

Any help would be great.

No, the wiring harness is not the same and will need to be replaced if you want to do a nav retrofit. It's not an easy task, but it has been done. See this article for reference - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...system-x5.html

OK thanks a bunch UCrew.....I'll have to see where and how much I can get all of this for....I'm fine with the work but it's the $$ that will be the deciding factor.

I've read that retrofit I just didn't see anything in there about having to change the harness so I wasn't sure.

Thanks again for the info.

one more quick question on the retrofit UCrew is since I don't have a DSP system now do I have to install that too since the wiring harness is for DSP or will that work for my non DSP system too or is there another wiring harness?

you do not need to add DSP in order to do the nav retrofit

UCrew....one more quick one and then I'll stop bugging you....since this would take away my CD are there any of the Nav units that have a CD behind them instead of the tape or would I have to do the changer and if that is the case is the X5 prewired for a changer in the rear?

as you likely found, the vehicle is pre-wired for a 6-disk CD changer. Personally, I would skip the CD changer, though, and use that connection to install an iPod interface.
