Sat Nav disc not recognised...but upgrade disc is.....?!

Any ideas....

My Sat Nav (X5) has just started to say that there is no disc in the drive.

I've bought a new disc in case it was damaged. Still the same message.

However, if I put in a software upgrade disc (my old v27 disc), it loads up as normal.

This would suggest the DVD unit is ok, but a bit confused as to why (now 3 different) Nav DVD's don't work.

I stuck !

is the software upgrade disk a CD and not a DVD? it may be something along the lines of the DVD laser failing but not the CD

Maybe you should upgrade the software? Check wht it shows when you go into SET- look into top right corner, the most recent software should have 00. I get updates from a good fella who sells them on ebay and also from time to time provides software upgrades otherwise he says the discs won't work.

Ditto. I've had something similar happen in a computer before (where the CD laser was working but not the DVD).

Did you buy this new disc from e-bay or something
like that. If so it may be the disc you bought was a bummer.
