pressure switch

hello everyone..i have a 2005 x5 4.4 just noticed when i opened hood that at top right corner where the right front hood piston is attached to the firewall there is a small black box with a round pressure switch it looks like a pressure switch for an under front hood light but i do not have a light any ideas what this is for..thanks rob

Its the hood switch...for the alarm. I disconnected mine as many members have because my alarm would go off randomly. After that, no more alarm problems...
