Steering the X is not all that easy right now.. If I change the fluid will that make it any lighter? 2001 with 116k Thanks

X5 Doors are very heavy and kids and mrs have a lot of complaints whenever they try to open x5 door, anyway to make it lighter? LOL...

The 4.8iS steering rack has more noticeably more power assist than the 3.0 & 4.4 racks, you could always swap one in if yours is starting to go bad.

I agree with the others, the larger wheels look good, but for right now the non-sport package, smaller wheels with the tires overinflated just a tad will make things easier. I am not sure how much the new fluid will help, but you could try that as well. It couldn't hurt.

this is madness!! (from the movie 300) anyway! my 2002 x5 has the same issues, at times, like when im tired, i find the steering just tooo heavy! try new tires? or the gym
