service engine soon

each time i fill it in with gas the service enginge soon goes on and won't go out until i visit my mechanic
can anyone help?

make sure the gas cap is tight then wait for 1 day...it should go off

Same thing happened with my sister's 3, probably need a new gas cap run you 30 bucks or so.

Ok, don't want to come off wrong but I just have to ask the obvious question... you do shut off the engine when fueling up right?

The reason I ask is that I had one customer that came in furiously mad about once a week that her check engine light was on after every fill up. We had a hard time explaining to her why she needed to shut off her car just to add gas...
