Whistle Anybody ever notice worn plastic around gas nozzle hole...

I've posted on this issue before and forgot about the post. I read the original post and it seemed confusing so I will try this again ...anyway, when I removed my gas cap for fill up I realized some worn plastic around the hole where you put the gas nozzle to fill the tank (for a lack of a better description). The owners manual calls this the gas filler pipe, so just before 'gas filler pipe' is some plastic that has worn to shredding. I'm a bit concerned and want to know if anybody has ever seen this and if i should be worried. I hope this post is not as confusing.....
If it is happenening to my X, chances are it could be or will happen to yours...

Thanks for input---Gm

Yeah, I know what part you're talking about... the plastic/rubber cup around the filler neck between the neck and the body. Right? I have replaced a few at the dealer and it isn't really hard. I just looked on realoem.com and couldn't find it, so your best bet is the dealer for the part.

You described the right part Should I be worried that some plastic got into the tank?

Not really, the only way into the tank is from the protruding tube you stick the gas nozzle in, and the crumbling plastic is behind that.

Thanks for the reply, i appreciate it! I was just thinking, since i just noticed this, that I might have gotten some plastic into the tank at attempts to "weasel" the gas nozzle into the filler pipe...

Thanks weasel--
