Icelink install near Monterey or San Jose, CA.

Well, yes, I am an idiot when it comes to diy projects. If there is anyone here who is willing to install an Icelink for me in my X5, I would appreciate it. Please give me a fair price for your time and help. Thanks guys.

I just installed one today, and I am not good at diy either, but this one is really easy, it's basically pluging 2 connectors together. Took me 10mn.
Here are the basic steps: unplug the battery located under the spare tyre, plug the provided icelink wire to the cd wire in your X, plug the icelink reconect the battery and connect your Ipod. That's all there is to it.

Thanks. I am just afraid of running the wires down the car and up into the front. How easy was it to snake the wires to the front of the car?

Well, I am going to leave my Ipod in the trunk semi-permanently. Since iicelink is text-enable on your radio, I am not sure what the point is to have it in the front, you can access all your song and menues from the steering wheel and the radio, plus if i understand, you can't control the ipod if you want the steering wheel /radio controls, it has to be one or the other. That said, running the cable to front is fairly easy, but is a bit more involved. Icelink has a pdf file you can download which shows you how to do it. Go to the dension site clik on support select icelink , select your car model and select icelink_install_supplement_bmw.pdf, you can see if that's something you want to do.

if not you can always go to any Al&Ed's Autosound, they are icelink resellers/installers

Any audio installer should be able to perform the install in about 60-90 minutes. If you are ever in the LA area, I can perform the install personally.

Ahh, I didn't realize that you could leave it in the trunk. I totally forgot that you could control it with the steering wheel controls! So, why do people install it in the front? Thanks again guys!
